Deepfakes

DeepFakes-THE THREAT OF NOT KNOWING WHAT’S REAL AND FACTUAL!

DeepFakes is a software of human image synthesis that stands on artificial intelligence. It is a combination of two words “deep learning” and “fake”. An AI-technology used to create videos or altering them on your own interest, in fact, it looks so real but it presents that didn’t even occur. Deepfake mostly uses for editing celebrity faces for 3D movies. This technology is making your face another chunk of data that can be stolen easily now.

Deepfake is created through a machine learning technique known as GAN (generative adversarial network). It works with using two contended AI systems generator, it constructs a fake video and discriminator, which checks whether the created video is fake or real. If discriminator identifies the fake video then it gives a hint to the generator what should not be done in further clips.

A DeepFake can be a fake video, photo or story created by artificial intelligence neural networks. People who use deep fake use of artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms to change features of the real human faces. They are extremely hard to identify and can cause swear damage for example videos, speeches, and audio clips. People are trying to offend this new trend but it has a long way to go!

ARE DEEPFAKES DANGEROUS?

Deepfakes updates are now in the latest trends. They are dangerous and have become more known and understandable. Almost every media platform is trying to make people understand its growing speed, how it is accessible to people and so their risks involved. So, it’s better we understand the negative insinuation of DeepFakes that are causing troubles. Therefore, we can prevent what’s coming and stop the consequences it contains.

Though the troubles related to DeepFakes have grown fast most of us still don’t know what it is actually? We can say it as mimicry, reforming of videos audios and images or manipulation possible due to machine learning.  Scams like face-swapping, creating entirely new audios and videos and images all are possible because of this new technology.

HOW TO SPOT DeepFakes

1: WEIRD FACES:

In so many DeepFakes videos the faces look extremely wired. The video and the facial features don’t set up perfectly and look a bit uncanny. If you notice background normal, but the face seems to be weird then it’s definitely a DeepFakes.

2: BODIES:

Mostly they only swap faces. People try to get a good duplicate body but eventually, it’s not always possible. You can detect DeepFakes if the person is looking heavier, taller, lighter or shorter than normal then there is probably a chance that it’s fake!

3: BLURR:

Blurriness in the face when it’s interrupted by some object or hand whereas the background and body look fine then it can be detected as DeepFakes.

4: SMALL CLIPS:

DeepFakes mobile applications and software’s are so advanced that they can create a whole new person, but can only do it for a short period of time. Videos can be a couple of seconds long, if you have seen a video of somebody famous doing something that is not convenient and the video is smaller without any possible reason then it’s a clue that it can be a Deep Fakes.

5: LIP SYNCING AND SOUND:

Deep Fakes apps and software’s can only change facial features, but it cannot match sounds perfectly, if you watched a video with no sound and there’s no possible reason for that, then it is probably a DeepFakes. Similarly, if the words spoken in the video don’t match lip movements or the lips look strange then you might have encountered a DeepFakes video.
For More Detail of DeepFakes Videos:

6: AUTHENTICITY:

The video or image should have to be from an authentic source. If it isn’t then it can be a DeepFakes. Mostly you see videos from some unauthorized and unauthentic source that seems weird and unnatural then there is a chance that you are watching deep fake.

7: UNNATURAL MOMENTS:

Even the best DeepFakes have flaws in them. If you are watching a deepfake then there is a chance that the movements aren’t natural.

8: BLINKING:

The person’s eye blinking won’t be normal rather than a real human. They may blink less or won’t blink at all.

9: BACKGROUNDS:

It doesn’t matter how perfect the DeepFakes is, there will be some changes in the backgrounds and lighting.

10: BOX-LIKE SHAPES:

If the content is deepfakes then there will be box-like shapes and cropped effects all over the face. Especially around the mouth, eyes, and neck.

11: LOWER QUALITY:

Some parts of the video possibly will be of lower quality rather than the overall video. It is also one of a clue that you had watched deepfakes content.

ENDING NOTE:

Deepfakes is one of the major issues we are having in this new AI-technology. Deepfake disinformation targeting famous celebrities and politicians for damaging their reputations and creating serious agenda against them is a new level scam. But they can be a spot or detected by analyzing the video carefully and using common sense. This technology is just a few years old, but it has already exploded as both beneficial and unsettling.
